jump into kindergarten - saginaw

The Jump Into Kindergarten project, inaugurated in the Midland Public Schools, is being implemented for five-year-olds enrolled in the Saginaw Public Schools. It is also based on Dr. Thomas Johnson’s “learning through play” curriculum and is offered for three weeks just before the beginning of the child’s kindergarten experience. Similar pre- and post-assessments will be conducted of participants to assess their gains in certain cognitive and behavioral skills as well as a 4-year longitudinal study compared with a control group. The project will be offered for three years and is funded by grants from the Saginaw Public Schools, the Harvey R. Wickes, Dow Corning and Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundations as well as from the Boutell Trusts.
